Because Florida is a (too) accessible destination for Quebecers and we almost all have a close retiree in Fort Lauderdale, whom we tend to visit, most people consider this destination a commonplace. Today, I intend to change this opinion! Here are 10 activities that will make your vacation in Fort Lauderdale from blah to awesome!
Las Olas Beach
Florida has something we do not have, its subtropical climate. We certainly can not miss the beach and a swim in the ocean is inevitable because of the heat! For a little more atmosphere and a great experience, spread your towel near Las Olas Boulevard.
Lauderdale-by-the-sea
This place is too charming. In addition to sunbathing on the beach, you can enjoy a good meal on one of the terrace restaurant adjacent to the sea and watch the fishermen on the dock, the view is not bad!
Walk on the Intercoastal
Florida has a very long river running through the land through Fort Lauderdale. On the banks are absolutely incredible houses where huge boats are parked. This is where many celebrities live. A boat tour or a guided tour will leave you speechless.
Paddle board, kayak or watercraft
Many booths rent paddle boards, kayaks or personal watercraft all over the city giving you the option to travel the Inter coastal for a leisurely ride or face the waves of the sea for a bigger challenge.
Dog racing
Drop the horse racing and try something different. Because it’s a very popular activity in the area, you have to go for it!
Parasailing
Thrill-seekers, this one is for you! For a breathtaking view of the sea as far as the eye can see and the coast of Florida, the parasailing is a choice of size. Although quieter, it’s a good first introduction to skydiving.
Everglades Holiday Park
This marshy park is known as the habitat of many alligators. An air boat ride is the best way to visit it. Other activities of visits or shows are also offered on the spot to fill your wild side.
Detour in Miami
Fort Lauderdale is not far from the big city of Miami where tons of possibilities are available to you. Pass by the famous Miami Beach or visit the Sun Life Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins. The city is also a favorite spot for many festivals throughout the year.
Detour in the Keys
The Keys are islands south of the United States coast connected to Florida by a very long bridge. The most southerly island is the Key West, where there is a tropical atmosphere. It is, however, several hours away from Fort Lauderdale. Closer to home, Key Largo also has a lot of charm and offers activities such as diving in the middle of the ocean. It’s definitely worth it!
These are just a few suggestions, but rest assured that Florida is full of fun proposals to maximize your stay. And what is your favorite activity in Fort Lauderdale?
